Green Organizing
Green organizing is a new specialty within the professional organizing industry. Green organizers assist organizations and families with increasing efficiency, improving organization, reducing environmental impact and affecting personal and organizational change. This is an opportunity for professional organizers to offer another service line along with helping to solve our growing environmental problems.
Green organizing services could include:
- Consultation on conservation of energy and water resources
- Consultation on conscious consumption and green purchases
- Develop process and systems to manage waste and recycling responsibly
- Counsel on non-toxic based products
- Reduction of paper and employ paperless practices
- Counsel on use of alternative transportation options

This 50-page guide is a step by step guide on becoming an eco-consultant. It provides information about how to set up a new eco-consulting business. It reviews the process of gaining new clients and information on how to conduct initial assessments. A list of resources is also provided.
Residential Green Assessment
This sustainability assessment is intended for residential consumers. The assessment is intended for a sustainability consultant to conduct the interview and provide recommended actions. Developed in Excel, it has over 300 questions that covers primary topical areas within sustainability including energy, water, waste, transportation, food, consumption, chemicals and toxins, home office, green building. Once the assessment has been completed, a worksheet has been formatted for consultants to customize an action plan for each client. It provides a list of over 170 suggested action items per each category for consultants to choose from.
